Customized Peels

by Mia

Every person’s skin is different, which is why a one-size-fits-all peel may not be the best approach. Customized Peels at Beauty & Body by Mia in Algonquin, IL are selected according to your skin type, concerns and individual skincare goals.

Whether you’re concerned about dullness, uneven texture, fine lines or discoloration, Mia can customize your peel to help reveal smoother, brighter and more refreshed-looking skin.

What Is a Customized Peel?

A customized peel is a professional skin resurfacing treatment that uses carefully selected ingredients to exfoliate the outer layers of the skin and encourage skin renewal.

The type and strength of your peel are selected based on your skin’s condition, sensitivity and desired results.

What Can Customized Peels Help Improve?

Depending on the peel selected, treatment may help improve the appearance of:

  • Fine lines

  • Uneven skin texture

  • Dull or tired-looking skin

  • Sun damage

  • Uneven-looking pigmentation

  • Age spots and freckles

  • Superficial acne scars

  • Rough or congested skin

How Do Customized Peels Work?

A professional peel solution is applied to the skin for a controlled amount of time. The treatment helps loosen and remove dull surface skin cells, allowing fresher-looking skin to become more visible.

Treatment strength and application time are customized to your skin.

Is a Customized Peel Right for Me?

The best peel depends on your skin type, sensitivity and specific concerns. Some clients may benefit from a gentle peel with minimal downtime, while others may need a different approach to achieve their desired results.

Mia will evaluate your skin and recommend an appropriate treatment plan.

Customized Peels: Pre and Post-Treatment Instructions

Light superficial and medium-depth chemical peels are professional exfoliating treatments designed to improve the appearance of skin texture, tone, fine lines, congestion and other common skin concerns.

Because every person’s skin responds differently, your Customized Peel at Beauty & Body by Mia will be selected according to your skin type, sensitivity and treatment goals.

Preparing for Your Customized Peel

Depending on the type of peel selected, Mia may recommend a professional home skincare regimen before treatment. When prescribed, this preparation helps condition your skin for the peel and should be followed exactly as directed.

Daily broad-spectrum sunscreen is especially important before and after your treatment.

Before Your Treatment

Unless instructed otherwise:

  • Discontinue retinoids, retinol, Vitamin A products and other potentially irritating topical products approximately 3 to 5 days before treatment.

  • Wear broad-spectrum sunscreen daily.

  • Avoid excessive sun exposure and tanning.

  • Avoid waxing, threading or other hair-removal treatments in the treatment area.

  • Tell Mia about prescription medications, recent procedures or changes in your skin.

  • Do not arrive for treatment with irritated, sunburned or compromised skin.

What Should I Expect After a Chemical Peel?

Your skin may initially feel smooth, tight, dry or sensitive. Some redness may also occur.

Visible peeling commonly begins within several days, although not everyone experiences visible peeling. The amount of peeling does not determine whether your treatment was effective.

Depending on the strength of your peel and your individual skin response, flaking or peeling can range from minimal to more noticeable.

After Your Treatment

Follow the specific instructions provided for your peel. General aftercare may include:

  • Do not wash the treated area for approximately 8 hours if instructed.

  • Use your recommended post-treatment skincare products.

  • Avoid strenuous exercise, excessive sweating, saunas, steam and very hot showers for approximately 48 hours.

  • Do not pick, pull or peel flaking skin.

  • Avoid facial scrubs, exfoliating brushes and washcloths for approximately 7 days.

  • Avoid waxing or other potentially irritating treatments until the skin has healed.

  • Use a gentle cleanser and moisturizer.

  • Apply broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher every day.

  • Avoid unnecessary direct sun exposure while your skin is healing.

  • Restart retinol, acids and other active skincare products only when instructed.

Vitamin C & Retinol Skin Peel

A Vitamin C and Retinol Peel may be used to improve the appearance of dullness, uneven texture, discoloration, fine lines and blemish-prone skin.

Temporary redness, tightness, dryness, sensitivity and peeling may occur following treatment. Peeling often becomes noticeable several days afterward, although individual responses vary.

How Many Chemical Peels Will I Need?

Some clients benefit from a single treatment, while others may achieve their goals through a series of Customized Peels.

Mia will recommend your treatment frequency and home skincare regimen based on your skin, the type of peel performed and how your skin responds.

If you experience an unexpected or concerning reaction after your peel, contact Beauty & Body by Mia for guidance.
